Europe was colonised. We were colonised by the Church, our traditions wiped out, our holidays stolen and our healers, witches and midwives burnt.

With the burning of the midwives, so did any knowledge of labor pain alleviation, abortion, healing, cycles and fertility. The Catholic Church condemned women to birth with pain to enforce the divine punishment and pay the «»Curse of Eve»».

Through its practice, the Church took any power women could have away and perpetuated this system we now call the patriarchy. As science rose and was dominated by men, midwive knowledge which was held by women was shoven aside and birth became medicalized, maintaining our disempowerment through fear.
